Beginners Bird ID Course

IntroductionWe've run seven very successful beginners courses since 2009. The beginners bird Identification Course is held either over a weekend, or on two week-nights and a Saturday morning. All lectures are in Centurion - quite centrally sitated for most of Gauteng. The course consist of lectures, a course pack, worksheets and 2 guided field outings, during which you will put what you have learned into practice! Location - All our courses (lecture component) are held in Centurion - which is fairly central to participants in most Gauteng areas. (Venue details will be supplied on booking) Course Programme (subject to change) Lecture 1: Introduction to Bird Identification methods. This section reveals a simple method of identifying birds. What are the steps to be taken when you see and unfamiliar bird ?
Lecture 2: Getting to know birds. This provides an overview of all the main groups of birds present in our environment, (with an emphasis on the birds which occur in Wider Gauteng). We go through all the main groups with the help of worksheet and this will give you the basic framework and knowledge to classify any unfamiliar bird. Lecture 3: Birding Skills and putting it into PractiseField Outing: The aim of the field birding outing is to allow everyone to practise their bird identification under the guidance of an expert, to learn some birding skills and to experience the enjoyment that birding offers! The group will be divided into two groups, to enable the course leader to give each participant close attention. Certificate of Attendance/achievement Those attending our courses and participating satisfactorily will be issued a certificate of attendance for this course.
