North-eastern Free-state and Lesotho Highlands Birding Weekend

7-9 November 2008
 

Introduction


The quality birding in the Golden Gate, Clarens, Witsieshoek and Harrismith area is well-known in the birding community. But did you know that just over the border in Lesotho is a wondrous fairyland of montane endemics? This trip focusses on the splendour of the Motheng pass and above, as well as the former Qua-qua national park - now incorportated into Golden Gate. It also includes some little known birding areas around Harrismith were more specials can be seen! This is the shortest way to get the Lesotho Highland Specials, as well as learning a good deal about LBJ's in general.

The weekend is based at Camelroc Guest Farm, close to the Caledon River near Fouriesburg. You can either do it on a self-drive basis (two way radios provided by Indicator Birding) or travel with us in a Microbus. Specials include:
