FORTHCOMING MOZAMBIQUE BIRDING TRIPS 08-09 21-30 November 2008 Mozambique LITE (South) A shortish trip to visit all the key birding sites in the south during the summer months, when migrants like Crab Plover are present. Start attractions include Olive-headed Weaver, Chestnut-fronted Helmet-shrike, Livingstones Flycatcher! Destinations: Massingir Dam (Parque Nacional do Limpopo), Inhambane (Barra), Vilanculos, Rio Save Game Reserve, Panda 1 - 10 December Pitta Trip to Mozambique Central mozambique in search of African Pittas and other great birds (10 Days) Fly-in or drive with us to Beira, and on to Rio Savane, Chinizua, The Zambezi Coutadas, Gorongosa Mountain and Gorongosa National Park. Top bird are obviously THE PITTA, but also include White-chested Alethe, Chestnut-fronted Helmet-shrike, Livingstones Flycatcher and the possibility of migrant cuckoos such as Barred Long-tailed Cuckoo. 26 April - 3 May 2009: Central Mozambique ex Beira (Fly-in) 8 Days This is the ideal trip for the busy person without the time or stomach for very long vehicle trips! Fly from Johannesburg to Beira, where we meet you - and take you birding. Overnight stops include Chinizua (Msasa), Catapu (Zambezi Valley) and Gorongosa National Park. Should you want to do this trip on other dates, and be at least two persons, contact us and we will try and schedule a trip on the dates that suit you! A drive in option is also available. 5 - 21 June 2009 Mozambique Birding Adventure (Self-drive) - 16 Days The ultimate Mozambique Birding trip with a tried and tested route and lifers galore. Top birds on this trip include White-chested Alethe, Black and White (Vanga) Flycatcher, Green-Headed Oriole, Marsh (Anchieta's Tchagra), Lesser Seedcracker, Yellow-bellied Hyliota and Locust Finch Destinations: Panda, Vilanculos, Rio Save Game Reserve, Rio Savane, Chinizua, Gorongosa, Mutare and Bvumba (with alternative for Zimbabwe leg: Mount Tsetserra.) 10-26 July 2009 Mozambique Birding Adventure (Self-drive) - 16 Days This is a different itinerary from the previous trip and does not include Zimbabwe. It is also a more adventurous trip with a focus on camping and new lessr known sites, including Moribane Forest in the exciting Chimanimani Conservation area in Mozambique.
